Break is used in a number of common phrasal verbs. Here is a list of them. Each phrasal verb is followed by its definition. Example sentences are also given.
Break away – become separate; (of members of a group) escape; run away
Break down – a) fail to work; prove to be useless; b) become weak through overwork; c) be overcome by emotions
The car broke down on the way to work.
She broke down during the speech.

To break something down is to use force to get it down.

คือ การใช้คำกริยาที่ปกติแล้วมีความหมายอย่างหนึ่ง แต่ส่วนประกอบ เมื่อ verb+ preposition or particle มารวมกันเป็น Phrasal verbs แล้ว อาจจะทำให้เกิดความหมายใหม่ขึ้นมาซึ่งอาจจะไม่มีเค้าความหมายของคำกริยาเดิมเลย นิยมใช้กันมากในภาษาอังกฤษ
หลักสำคัญในการใช้ Phrasal Verbs หรือ Two-Word Verbs
1.เมื่อไม่มี direct object ต้องวาง adverb ไว้ติดกับ verb เช่น
   - please come in.
   - Don't give up, whatever happens
